This is the consultation website for the proposed redevelopment of the Peruvian Wharf site in the Royal Docks, London Borough of Newham, by Galliard Homes. The site has lain empty and derelict for more than a decade and we will be bringing forward plans for a range of beautifully designed new homes, focused around a series of gardens and public spaces including a new high quality environment around the West Silvertown DLR station with commercial space.


Peruvian Wharf is located to the south of North Woolwich Road at West Silvertown DLR and stretches down towards the Thames. It neighbours the Tate & Lyle factory, next to the Royal Wharf development, and the communities of Britannia Village are across the road.

Submission of planning application



Following a second round of public exhibition events in July, we have now submitted an outline planning application to the London Borough of Newham for the development of the Peruvian Wharf site.

The purpose of this second consultation was to demonstrate how we have listened and responded to feedback received since we first introduced our plans in February from the local community, as well as from the London Borough of Newham and their Design Review Pane. Our proposals evolved throughout this period to include the addition of a metro-style shop next to West Silvertown DLR, to enhance the measures to protect the new homes and open spaces from nearby industrial uses, and to soften and enliven of the areas around North Woolwich Road which are currently not welcoming.

We believe our proposals for Peruvian Wharf will deliver a number of benefits for the area, including:

  • Bringing a disused brownfield site back into active use, supporting the wider regeneration of the Royal Docks.
  • Creating a new environment around the Station Square, a welcoming and lively space for existing and new residents, as well as visitors at West Silvertown DLR.
  • A new metro-style convenience shop, in direct response to local feedback that highlighted the lack of shops and facilities nearby.
  • 950 new high quality homes for Newham, including family and affordable homes.
  • A well connected site that will link into new developments around us and with beautifully landscaped garden courtyards and open spaces.
  • The creation of 660 construction jobs and between 55 and 150 jobs post construction from the commercial and retail spaces – a proportion of which we would look to offer to local people.
